Based in beautiful Boise, Idaho, Io DuPont develops high-end technology products—primarily for the cycling industry. The company was founded in 2004 by Tony DuPont, the company’s lead engineer and managing member, with the company’s first product: Power Cordz synthetic fiber bicycle cables.

Power Cordz are unique in the cycling world due to the major engineering obstacles entailed in securing an adequate anchor to such a small diameter cable. The Power Cordz’ anchor will safely carry more than 600lbs on a synthetic cord only 1.2mm in diameter! They are 75% lighter and many times stronger than the steel cables they replace while improving performance through lower friction and a higher modulus of elasticity (they don’t stretch out and require re-adjustment—ever). Power Cordz have been sold internationally since 2005 and are available through distributors that reach every major cycling market in the world.

Among the next innovations that Io DuPont is working on is a completely new bicycle drive train called the Infinity Drive™ continuously variable bicycle transmission. The transmission holds promise to outperform derailleur systems in range, smoothness, maintenance requirements, and ease of use while being competitive in weight, efficiency, and price with the best in the industry.
